I Want Those Flashing Lights
Colin Munroe is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and amateur producer. He's been working in hip-hop for several years while still retaining an indie rock style. Think something like Matthew Santos on Lupe Fiasco's Superstar. Either way he's worth checking out. With a fairly interesting voice and a catchy style and sound he might be get a couple of plays on your iPod.
All The Girls Standing In Line For The Bathroom
Check out this new N.E.R.D. track, apparently it is titled "Everyone Nose" and will be on the new N.E.R.D. album N.3.R.D. It's pretty different but I love it, definately fits in with what I've been looking for out of the music scene lately.

Mars Volta On Letterman
Here's the video of The Mars Volta playing Wax Simulacra on Letterman. You've got to love that Letterman would have such a wild group of guys just rocking out on the show. Also, this is the first appearance I had seen of now permanently new drummer Thomas Pridgen. Thomas is a drummer from California who won the Guitar Center drum off at both the ages of 9 and 10. He was the youngest drummer to ever receieve an endorsement by Zildjian, a company which is nearly 400 years old. Also, Thomas was given a four year scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA at the age of 15 years old, the youngest musician to ever receive such a scholarship. Below the Letterman video is a video of Thomas playing the drums.

The Return of The Niña
In case you are wondering, La Niña is the exact opposite of El Niño. With a La Niña, the average ocean temperature is .5° c cooler than normal. Also, the effects on the weather are generally the opposite of El Niño. All important information? Maybe not. But if you live in the Colorado area, you probably knew most of this information on La Niña.
In the winter of 1998, a La Niña storm caused a record amount of snow. The Mt. Baker Ski resort recorded 1140 inches, the most snow recorded in one year anywhere ever. This winter was able to be captured by Sam Giffin and Ryan Fenson-Hood in the film "The Return Of The Niña". The films is brought to you by the Right On Brothers and Studio 411 and the original score was done by my cousin Justin Marchacos. So, check this movie out, especially if you have an interest in skiing or snowboarding (or record breaking weather), you won't be disappointed. To order a copy of "The Return of The Niña" go to Studio 411's website.

Tim William: Waiting On The Hype
Tim William is the New York subculture.
While producing hip-hop beats, Tim William was found by Double-O of Kidz In The Hall on myspace and the two began to work together. Quickly, Tim made a name for himself amongst the hip-hop community and other New York hipsters and can be considered one of the most popular names in the New York underground subculture. The music that Tim makes is almost undefinable to a genre, yet still manages to come across as a familiar sound. He is currently working on his first album. His music can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/timwilliammusic

What's Gone Is Gone
So how often would you say that you stumble across a CD that clearly hasn't seen the light of day in months or even years. Someone recommended an artist to you, you downloaded a bunch of songs by them, and they were forever lost amongst the endless list of artists that is your ipod. Well as you might have guessed by now it happens to me all the time, and sometimes finding these old albums is more rewarding the second time around.
Probably pretty close to two years ago I was at a Rocket Summer concert finding myself surrounded by swarms of underage enthusiasts and the small group of friends who I had gone to the show with. As you could imagine, the show was filled with ""that" kind of music. But, one opening act stood out in my mind after their performance, that artist was singer/songwriter Adam Richman from Allentown, PA. Now don't get your hopes too high. Adam is your pretty typical singer/songwriter that would perform for a crowd of such an age group. His lyrics are pretty simple and at times outright cheesy, but I still found it pretty enjoyable. I talked to him for a little after the show to find out more about him and was pleased to find out he was a really cool guy. He let me know that his entire full length "Patience and Science" (which had just been released) was recorded in his parents basement and that he played every instrument on the album. A pretty impressive accomplishment given the quality of the record. Anyways, long story short, I bought two of his CDs, one for myself and one for a friend, figuring the conversation that we held was worth me spending a small sum of money in support of him. Well I listened to this cd again today and I must say, damn catchy. Here's a video of what I guess is his single titled "The Loneliness Song", I told you it was cheesy but the song is good and the video is pretty awesome too. Enjoy.

So This Is The New Year and I Don't Feel Any Different
It seems funny almost that every new year we all have a renewed sense of hope. What it is about the change of a calendar that makes people think things will change so immensely. Maybe it's just a psychological need for an imaginary hope. On any given day we can make the choice to change, no certain day really has any effect on that, yet we decide to wait for the end of a year to make an effort for such a change. Either way, to each their own, let your resolutions ring true. Good luck to everyone in the new year. To everyone I saw last night, it was a great time, another great new years party. A thanks to Ron for hosting the festivities. No better way to change a calendar than to spend it with the ones you care the most about.
